Well ive got three red eared sliders.i got them off craigslist.i was told they came with a 50 gallon tank but it turns out,its a 30 gallon.now considering that the biggest one is about 9 inches, this is way too small of a tank for them.so i decided to build a plywood pond...roughly 135 gallons...for inside with my best friend.its freezing out so this will be used in the winter months. I just started this thing today.i started with 2x3s for the frame. but first, here are the little guys that will be living in it :)

Tomorrow i am off to get my 1/2 inch plywood and drylock..im happy with the progress so far. Ill be sure to keep posting pics of the progress...any suggestions are welcome! :)

lookin good... ive got two turtles in a 100gallon tank. they absolutly love it, and im sure your turtles will love this pond.

what are u filtering it with?
will you have UV lighting?
is it going to be heated?
are you going to put fish in with the turtles? (if you do, i suggest bluegill or sunfish)

well ive got one heatlamp on them now.ill probably have two heat lamps up and ill buy new UV bulbs for them.im gonna pick up another heater and i picked up another filter today.id like to have fish in there but i wasnt sure because i dont want them to get eaten lol

What are you planning to do for a basking area? I have been thinking of doing something similar (or a stock tank) and considering a large boulder rock right in the center of the tank, with enough room on all sides so the turtles can't climb out and also for the water level to be high.

I'm looking forward to the build.

would bluegills be able to outrun them?

I would say african cichlids would be about the only ones that could be fast enough to stay away from turtles, but even then...

not sure what im gonna do with the basking area..i might have a piece of plywood stick out and i could put gravel and stuff on it..not quite sure yet
