I know this has been posted multiple times but I need some help. I just picked up a 15" silver arowana about a week and a half ago he/she has still not eaten. Previous owner was feeding him multiple kinds of pellets and freeze dried krill tried both with no luck.

I know a largo arowana can go a few weeks without eating but I'm not trying to take it that far. Any suggestions on how to get him/her to eat? Crickets possibly? Arowana appears to have settled into my tank nicely just doesn't show interest in eating.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Keep offering the pellets, it will eat when it's ready.

Of coarse I assumed that your tank is established and all water parameters are where they should be.

oh and he finally ate today! I was laying in bed with my girl she looks over at the tank (girl loves the tank more than I do haha) and goes he ate he ate! Put some more pellets and at first he snubbed them but eventually took em.

Bro, from my long experience with arowana, best is avoid food that has hard shells, or meant for land animals.

For the appetite, I suggest you to stop feeding for a few days, keep good water and then try again. Afew other options are, tankmates that can challenge for food and turn on heater to stimulate appetite.

Hope it helps.....you have to be v patience

yea I would feed my ray (who eats massivore) directly underneath him in hopes that he would start eating and eventually he did.

Aros are just stubborn to eat when they enter new homes...My black was the same way...
