Hey all, just setting up a simple 15 gallon tall..I want to ether use this tank for breeding a cichlid pair Or use as a tank for a single beefy sized fish. So as i wait for the tank to do its thang...my questions to you out there in internet land is....what do you think? 15gallon to small for breeding a cichlid pair? to small for a beefy fish (10in or less)? What kind of cichlids would you recommend for a first time breeder? I know my local FS has a nice sized male Johannii.. easy to find females?

Thanks :nilly:

rams, and some apistogramma.

you can breed convicts in there for maybe a year, ive got a pair in a 10g breeding like crazy right now(dont worry i have a tank ready for them when they are big enough not to get swallowed)

Sorry but you couldnt keep any fish over 4 inches in that tank and a pair would have to be less then three inches a johanii would get to big possibly it would work in a 16 long but not 15 high.
try rams or apistos and maybe even two pairs of small neolamprologus. a taeniacara candidi would be pretty too.

pair of kribs will breed easily in there. cool colors too

Some shell dwellers would be good. There are several easy to breed species

A pair of Laetacara curviceps or dorsiger, a trio of apistos or nannacara, a pair of kribs or dwarf jewels/african rams, pair of german blue rams, pair of nano's.

That's all off the top of my head.
