15 Giant aquariums of the rich and famous

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The shark mansion and koi tanks were my favorites. Couldn't watch Dwight Howards- no thank you, love SA American but could not and would not ever want a snake in my home.

I'm not impressed with any of them!

Huge fancy set ups like these are installed by professionals, at huge huge cost, plus ongoing huge maintenance contracts, for the rich and famous. Many who don't have a clue about our hobby. They're just novelty gimmicks imo.

If you've ever watched 'tanked' on TV you'll know what I mean. I had to stop watching that show, it was so false.

Just my opinion, merry Christmas!!

I agree, don’t those tanks also have a habit of cracking?
The snake tank was rubbish. Get me in there and the whole thing would be live planted and actually good for a snake

Large aquariums are made of acrylic, and they dont crack. They are used in public aquarium, ship and airplane windows. But I am sure accidents can happen from plumbing leak, power outage or mechanical failure.

There is one real hobbyist who goes out to collect fish for his reef tank. The rest are just passive fish admirer, hiring companies to do everything. There are true hobbyist celebrities, such as Tennis player Michael Chang, who talked about keeping and breeding Frontosa, but the setups are not news worthy.

The last long tank is like a crowded food fish tank, serving dinner in Asian restaurant.

the more complicated the order is the more chances it will leak. Tanked tv show like mentioned earlier in a comment had crazy shaped tanks but bad reputation of them leaking later. Acrylics has its limits and people like to push the envelope. My reason of not being impressed. Artificial feel to it.

I am a hour away from Shedd in Chicago. Am always looking online at Oliver Knotts tanks - Takishi Amanos and all of the legends- looking for ideas how to scape well.

this literally was on MFK fb page recently thats where i got the image from. I like seeing more videos of Knott/Amanos style tanks being featured Hope you get the idea what will impress some of us 99F7EBC7-FCE9-41B0-AEE2-0C753276FC2A.jpeg

None of the rich and famous aquariums are intend to impress hobbyists. They are colorful furniture with pet fish to show off, expensive to install yet simple to maintain by contractors. They are fish only tanks that don’t carry live plants or corals, only fake decors. Amano style nature aquariums are too maintenance demanding, requiring daily glooming and pruning, rigorous fertilization regime, and constant adjustment of plant growth. I can’t see having contractors to work daily in celebrities bedroom or bathroom to upkeep nature aquariums.
