I have had this fish for 2 weeks now and make every effort available to secure the most proper acclimating process for this fish. After 2 weeks and several different varieties of foods I have not gotten one strike alot of puffs towards the food but never actually food in mouth. HELP what can I do to save this fishes life from starvation?

My C. Atababo II wouldn't eat for nearly a month. I had live feeders in with him and while he slowly acclimated, I started to notice that they started to disappear (feeders). So from my experience, wild caught fish adapt to captive life more slowly than young fish. Even now, I've got him on freeze dried krill, and when its feeding time and smells food, he goes into a frenzy state where he is sifting gravel from the rock crevices looking for creatures hiding in the rocks. I've never seen captive bred fish act like this. I also think my C Atababo II hasn't acclimated the best to captive life compared to other C Atababo IIs. Another thing is water quality. I notice that his appetite wains when its time for the 2-4 week water change. I also feed him frozen mini shrimp and diced frozen smelt-like fish I buy at the asian food store. Man those asian supermarkets are the shiznit for fish food!

It took me a while to acclimate him to new foods and it involved starving him for a week. He is now a fat pig who eats like a pig. His colors are not what you usually see for his species though but I still love him!

Is this the one you got from Greg, if so what was she eating at his place. She won't starve, it would take weeks. Let her settle in to her new surroundings. Give her time, keep offering foods. I know she came from his 900+ gallon tank, what size to you place her in?

Hey Tyler hows she doing? She was eating like a pig over here. I was feeding her Hikarri Gold pellets and freeze dried shrimp.
