Inside I have 4 green sunfish, 2 green sunfish/ pumpkinseed hybrids, 1 large-mouth bass, 1 white sucker and 1 pearl river map turtle.
Plants include microsword, anacharis, giant hairgrass, frogbit, duckweed and pothos ( above the water line).
Background is made from white foam covered in Ultralite motar mixed with liquid coloring.
Control Circuit and CO2 Tank. The lights come on stages, for a total of 4 Daylight flourescents, 2 UV/reptile flourescents and one 50W heatlamp. Also included are controls for the filter pumps, including auto shutoffs, switches for 4 additional outlets, and a solenoid that pulses the CO2 into the tank.
Sump, I have enough Bio-material (scrubbies) for a 300 gallon tank, but with a turtle, I need that much. I also use homemade filter socks, I'm currently using felt as the filter material, but it clogs up so fast, I need to leave one of the slots open. I also have a heating element and control unit from a water bed. The air-disk was to provide extra O2 for the BB colony, but it isnt needed. I have two pumps rated for 900GPH each, judging by the siphon in the overflow I'm getting 1600GPH total. I also have twin float switches to provide warning for low water level and shut-off if the level gets two low.
View of my siphon overflow box and the control unit for the heater as well as the cable for the lighting.
I still need to install shelves into the leftmost cabinet on the stand, and make a cover for the sump.
Glad to see someone remembered a UV lamp for a turtle, most people never even think about that. What and how do you feed the turtle though without the fish getting to it first?
