Hey there I have a 150 gallon tank that I set up a few months ago it's 4 foot by 2 foot deep and 31 in tall. I recently put a sun sun hw-304b canister filter on the tank love the filter but I have dead zones in my tank all over I have quite a bit of driftwood in the tank and dead zones are around the drift wood. So my question is do I need a power head or 2 of so what kind. This is freshwater tank. Any advice is welcome too

Tank stock-
1 red spot severum
2 gold severum
2 red shoulder severum
4 angels
2 red head geophagus
1 rope fish
1 royal pleco
1 flyer pleco

Cool setup!

I'm a Sunsun fan for sure, but IMO, that 304B alone isn't enough filtration. I'd run an Aquclear 110 HOB instead of a powerhead, or run another Sunsun canister on that tank if you prefer.

I'd use what you have! I'm not a big penguin biowheel fan, but if you've got'em, use'em! To me, if you're using power to move water, it might as well be with a filter of some type.

You can always use them without the bio-wheels. If you can find the reusable frames that allow you to make your own filter cartridges, you won't have to buy throwaways.

That's why I like AC HOBs. No cartridges. They use sponges you just squeeze out and reuse.

If you want filtration you can brag about then try a fluval fx series filter, eheim, or sump. As simple as sumps may look, they are the best form of filtration you can get for your tank, although they are noisy. If you aren't looking to spend that much money, as Freshy said, an aquaclear would also help.

I threw the biowheels back on until I can order another sun sun hope that does some good better than without them I guess

I have a 135 gallon tank (six feet long). I ran two AClear 110s for a bit and found I had a dead spot in the middle (Frontosa poo can be a bit heavy). I thought about a third AClear but instead went with a Koralia circulation pump (1150 gal/h) that attaches to the glass with a magnet system. It was half the price of the AClear and I only have to turn it on a couple times a week for 10 minutes.

If you just want a powerhead, Koralia is the way to go.
I too have the 1100 gph model, but mine runs 24/hrs. A few fish play in the current every once in a while.
