I am considering a single predatory fish habitat. Tank is 48"x24"x28"h. My species of interest would be a Jag,Dovii, or Umbee. Keep in mind only one of these fish will be added. Can any pleco's,catfish, or silver dollars survive with one of these fish. I am also open to options on the predatory fish.

The 150g might be small for a male dovii and maybe umbies.
A jag would be fine w/ a pleco ans some SD.

:iagree: A 150 would be perfect for a male Jag. The SDs would work, too. a pleco might find trouble in a 4 foot tank with an aggressive male jag. Could work, though.

I've kept a pair of managuense in a 150 with dithers, and a pleco. The mamaguense reached approx 14" and spawned many times. Used a40 gal planted sump, a 50 gallon sump with filter socks, heavy biological filtration, and found biweekly 40% water changes needed to maintain good health. If I slacked on the changes, the water became yellow, and lots of algae grew.
I found it too small for adult dovii. I figured an umbi was out of the question.

That's essentially a tall 120, so anything you would put in a 120...

+1. The 150 gallons is misleading in this case as the footprint is not that large. I would say this is a very minimum footprint for a jag. If you are doing a wet pet with this tank I would think you could find something that would work a little more ideally or if you want a jag or dovii I would get yourself a 6' tank. But that is just my opinion. Starting a male jag or dovii in this tank would work for a while but you might find it looks cramped for them as the fish would reach full size.

Good luck and I think your intentions are good with this tank.

I think a jag would work but that footprint begs for an rd or big texas

A jag would be fine. You don't need any other fish in the tank.

I bought a 6' tank today but i went without a tape measure and I guess my eyeball isnt very accurate. It looked like a 125 but when I got it home and measured it. it was actually a 90 long. 72x15x19H. Oh well always have room for one more tank.
