First the situation:
I am the new owner of a 150G long (72"x18"27") I'm moving my fast growing Tiger Oscar (5.5", 2.5" in 3 weeks, this is gonna be a big fish) from his current 75G.
The 150G will be plumbed into a 100 gallon sump and a 20 gallon filter (filter may be moved into sump later) and we do weekly water changes, our limiting factor is going to be territory, I want to avoid fights, although worst case they can go in the 75G.

This water is also run through my aquaponics system, so my plants eat tons of nitrates.

I plan on having lots of driftwood and hiding spots.
I'd like to have total:
2 Oscars (Love these fish!)
A Serverum
some dithers (maybe 6 silver dollars)
and a 8 inch pleco (a stunted rescue, he is full grown).
Also, a blue whale*:headbang2

*The whale is optional

So, what is the verdict?

Thanks!

Sounds like you have everything planned out, and seems to me like its going to be an AWESOME set up!! make sure to post plenty of pics once you have everything set up, also i doubt you would have any problems if you wanted to add another severum, since its a long tank and all those fish are pretty laid back i doubt territory will be an issue, just make sure you have all males

Sound really nice. If the O's are a pair it might be a little touchy for the Sev but otherwise I think it's good to go.

Oscars laid back?? Thats seems incredibly rare to me...

not that i know of... every O i have had was totally chill and not mean at all, Os IME are more hungry than anything, as long as it wont fit in their they normally don't mess with it. at least that has been my experience and as far as i know most others' on here experiences as well, now if they are a pair then that is a different story...

You have been lucky.
Sounds like a good plan but have a back up plan in case of issues.

The 75g will be our backup plan, but we are really hoping to avoid using it.
We might forgo the second oscar just to keep things simple. Would two serverums work better?

I would stick to your original plan an just rehome the Sev if it doesn't work out. You might get lucky. Some Sevs can be pretty nasty and might turn the tables on the Oscars you never know, but give it a shot.
