I've read a few posts on here about people setting up larger tanks on a second floor. I just got a 150 gallon tall tank today 48x24x31. My stingray is growing fast and I just want to have everything so I'm not in a rush when she needs a bigger tank. Im concerned that 1254 pounds of water plus the 300 or so with the tank and stand is going to be to heavy to put on the second floor. I live in an apartment and I don't know what size joists or how it was constructed. I could put it on the first floor but I would prefer to have my stingray next to my bed where I can see her the most. I just would like to hear peoples thoughts and if you have done this.

play it safe and put on first floor, I had mine on second floor but because it was over my garage and I could tell that it was basically being help up by lots of cinder blocks. Unless have someone come look at your house

Right now I have my motoro ray, silver arowana and an alligator gar. I've tried a couple different fish with the ray and aro but they either eat all the food or fight with the aro. I like unique fish.

Kyle, IMO you're a little light on your weights. According to Aqueon, their standard 4ft 120g tank is 1400lbs full. Add another ~250lbs for 30 more gallons of water, then everything else. I would never put that on a second story wood frame on that small a footprint.

You should get rid of the gar while you still can..that thing will be a tank buster
