I am looking at purchasing a 150 gallon tank with a footprint of 48x24x30 Just wanted to know if this is a good footprint for an oscar ? and i am getting the tank for 150 if thats a good deal or not lol just wondering ?

Wow, a dollar per gallon. That's some bargain.

Yep. It will work absolutely well for one oscar. Your oscar will be very happy to gain potential size of 14" if kept by itself.lol Are you keeping anything else in there?

Not sure as to what else i am gonna keep with him as he gets bigger, because i have him and a pleco in a 55 gallon tank atm, and i just got done making my Diy Trickle System which is gonna be insane filteration for them when i get it hooked up. So for the time being when i set it up the pleco will probably be in there with him. and yeah deal off craigslist lol :D

I have that same tank :) Oscars "hang out" mostly with a slow paced, casual and graceful attitude from what I have seen. They mostly swim around peacefully as couples, more like they are window shopping. They aren't as physical as some species that might require a longer tank versus taller. The depth of the tank is nice...they swim mostly near the top, but will sometimes drop down and patrol the structure before heading back towards the top.

Post photos when you get it set up :)

I deff will, and does you oscar hang around right beside you when you do water changes ? mine seems to just sit there and like it has to know what is going on and just acts like nothing is happening lol.

Most definitely. Oscars are truly "wet pets". You can tell they watch and observe you. When I feed, the 150 is the last tank I feed. By the time I get there, the Oscars are already grouped up tightly below the lid. As I get closer, they start to get frantic lol.

With 7 tanks, 2 Huskies, 3 cats and a young daughter, feeding time is a bit nutty around here :)

Haha i don't doubt it my oscar sits there and begs on the daily and when he eats he acts like i haven't fed him in days lol.
