I have been planning on a 150 gallon aquarium for a few months, and actually bought one recently. The problem is, my friend accidentally dropped it off the bed of his truck and so thats gone. Hopefully I can find a replacement soon, but in the meantime I would like to finalize my stocking ideas. J Joshuakahan helped come up with the following:
1x Hepsetus Odoe
1x Black Ghost Knifefish
2-3x Senegal/Delhizi Bichir
5x Silver Dollar

I bought the silver dollars and they arrived with a bad case of ich. Somehow they survived like 2 months but died when I was out of town. Honestly, I don't like their shy personality much, and ime they were hard to get to eat. I dont really want to get those again, so I was thinking electric blue acaras might be a good replacement. If not, then possibly geophagus. Also, would a fire eel or tire track eel be compatible with this section? My optimal tanks stocking would be the following:
1x Hespetus Odoe
1x Black Ghost Knifefish
2-3x Bichir
5-6x Electric Blue Acara
1x Fire Eel

LMK if this would work. Thanks

fire mouth cichlids would be cool too instead of blue acaras or geophagus, although i’ve heard they’re a little aggressive

If you’re looking for a schooling fish, you could sub the odoe for a group of hujeta. They’re very similar in look and behaving except hujeta school/shoal nicely

i might think about that, but i was looking more for some splash of color to add to it you know? if it’s overstocked then i don’t need to add them but just thought it would be cool if it works

Personally, I wouldn’t add any type of cichlids to that stock, but if you want to try, I think the acara are the correct choice. Another option for color would be red tail barracuda. You could do a group of hujeta, red tail barracuda and a chalceus. I did that and they all shoaled together and I had bichirs with them too
