Tomorrow I'm finally getting my 150 gallon tank! I'm so excited, but I'm having issues deciding what to put in it. I have a TX Pearl in a 50 gal but he is such a jerk I dont think he could live with anything else. (He is also my fav fish!) The LFS finally has juvi pearls in stock so I have considered getting a couple of them ... I also have a couple juvi oscars & juvi jack dempseys that I have been thinking about moving into the 150 gal instead. I just can't seem to make up my mind! I have tanks everywhere ... to consolidate tanks or not? This is the advice I need. I've been waiting on this tank for 6 months & now that its almost here I'm bouncing around like a little kid planning it out. Unfortunately a.d.d has kicked in & I can't make up my mind!:feedback:

water, no really, how about a red eared slider

Well, if any of your current fish need to upgrade (like the juvi oscars or dempseys), you could move them up, and then pick out new fish to replace them in their old tanks.

sounds like the way to go

That is kind of what I have been leaning toward doing. Would the oscars & jacks be okay in a 150 together as long as I have plenty of caves & hidey holes for them?

Yep, upgrade your babies into the bigger tank. and replace 'em w/ fish that can live full life in the smaller tanks. =D I'de list what tanks you have and their current stock for more definitive responses. Your TX might be fine w/ your O' and JD's depending on the size differences. more space, and not just 1 but multiple new room-mates has tame a wild Cichlid or 2 before. But that is also a choice to amke as you may lose a fish if you can't 24/7 monitor then for a few days more or less.

IDK their sizes but adult for adult a TX will wreck an oscar somthing feirce. I wouldnt mix the 2 esp if the TX is a large male.

The TX is about 7 inches long ... when I ended up with him I put him in the tank with an O but had to separate them within 24 hours b/c he literally almost killed the O. I thought they would be okay b/c they were the exact same size.

The juvi Jacks & O's are in a 20 g tank right now while they are tiny. The biggest O is only (maybe) 2 inches long & the Jacks are about an inch. I have a 55 with saltwater fish that I'm trying desperately to get rid of so I can put the Jacks where they are. I'm just going to leave the TX by himself, he harasses the pleco all the time but he has lots of places to hide so I'm not worried. I really just think he is too grumpy to have tank mates.

The original plan was put salt in the 150, but there is no way. I hate taking care of them. haha.

I'm getting the tank for free so hopefully it wont need any repairs. My dads buddy use to own a fish store & has random tanks sitting around & is pretty good about hooking me up with them to get them out of his garage. I dont think the tank will be here until around 7pm ... but I'm already dancing around the house!
