i have a 150 gallon tank that i am going to setup as a dwarf comunity tank.. I plan on stocking a few difrerent groups of Apistogrammas and planting as much of the tank as possible.. .. Now I have a 40 gallon sump with bio balls and two marineland 350s one with the micron filter and the othe with the carbon water polishing canister ran together in a sequance..... what i would like to know is 1. what elese should I add to the sump.. (posibly planting it ).. and 2.What is the best way to start this type of setup.... fish then plants , plants then fish , little bit of both ....

Thanks Jim

i started with plants then fish .

if its planted heavily then you might not need that much biomedia

wet/dry sumps and planted tank do not mix well together. wet/dry filters take most all of the Co2 out of the water.

Actually, Wet/Dry sumps actually work well with planted tanks. Not as much CO2 is lost as you would think.

I was surprised as well. Do some research on the topic and you will find alot of very successful aquarists use wet/dry filters.

I ran a wet/dry for a while with very little noticeable CO2 loss, but changed to cannisters due to the small fish that refused to stay out of the overflow.
