Would a Fluval FX5 and 404 be enough to filter a 150 gallon tank (48"X30"x24") with:

2 - 12" Florida Gars
4 - 5" Dats
6 - 7" Polys
1 - 8" African Bonytongue

Also, would this tank size be able to house these fish for life?

Those filters would be pretty stellar filtration for a 150 for sure. Depending on the actual dimensions of the tank you might run out of room with that stock.

Not for life....The gars and dats will need a larger footprint within a year or two...The polys can stay.....

Good filtration most of the stock will need a 200+ though.

I have 1 FX5 on a 125gal that heavy stock with JD'S, GT'S, flowerhorn,Parrots and Silver dollars and there is no problem but I do 50% water changes every week. I clean the filter about every 3months so with what you have you will be fine!
