can any one help me out i can't seem to get my150 gallon tank clear its been cloudy and a yellow tint for awile i had a fluval 405 and a emperor400 bio wheel. two weeks ago i took the 405 out and put a fluval fx5 in its place and still having that problem

i have 10 fish in it
a 16 inch clownknife
2 4inch firemouths
2 4inch bloodparotts
1 8inch jack dempsey
1 8inch managuense
2 plecos
1 6inch synodontis catfish

Sounds like by removing your filter, you lost a good part of your beneficial bacteria. By now your fx5 sounds like it should be cycled and pretty established. Can you measure your water parameters? Its probably safe to do a 30% waterchange too.

Some driftwood is treated so that it doesn't leach... that's the kind i use. though i still get tannins from using Ketapang. if the wood's the issue you could always get treated wood. if it's the substrate (even if properly rinsed) just let the cycling process finish and you should see changes. I wouldn't worry if the parameters are unaffected. no reason for a complete overhaul of your aquarium.
