Just asking some questions about Mbuna.

How many can fit in a 150 that is filtered 5 time an hour?

I don't want them to fight so slightly overstocked is ok I can do WC every other day if ABSOLUTELY need too (got a python WC so it's easy as cake)

Also what is Mbuna'a scientific name?
And what colors are there?
Is it easy to breed them?

I think i like these 3 Mbuna species.
How many could i have of each with some sort of catfish?
Melanochromis Maingano
Labidochromis Caeruleus
Pseudotropheus Saulosi

You can also find many of your questions already answered in the African Rift Lake Cichlid folder here on MFK.

As far as that group;
Melanochromis Maingano (M. cyaneorhabdos)
Labidochromis Caeruleus
Pseudotropheus Saulosi

I would replace the P. saulosi with something else, you already have lots of blue and yellow with the other two species. Possibly a group of Metriaclima estherae red, or OB. They will also get a bit larger in size than the other two species on your short list. 12-15 of each species would be a good ballpark for starting.

15 of each would be good?
what kind of catfish would be good?

Bio load depends mostly on filtration & your dedication to water changes and overall maintenance of filters etc, so keep your total number of adult fish within those limits. Synodontis lucipinnis usually sold as S. petricola (6-8) would be a good choice for cats.

Is the 150G tank a 4ft, 5ft or 6ft tank?

I personally would avoid the maingano. My experience with melanochromis types has been that they are not great at playing nice with the more peaceful mbuna.

RD gave good advice. Do research here and elsewhere on the internet. 40ish mbuna seems reasonable to me for a 150. Synodontis petricola are awesome cats, I had one for years and years with Africans.

Once or twice a week water changes should be fine. I wouldn't stock the tank so heavily that it's necessary every two days (think- what would happen if you go on holiday for a week)

P. cyaneorhabdos will be fine with yellow labs etc, especially in a tank that size. I kept them together for years in a much smaller footprint without any major issues.

I agree with the species profile of mildly aggressive.
