Getting my 150 up and running today. Once the tank is cycled I'll be putting my big fish in it (oscar, uaru) and growing out some little guys in my current tank. Anyway this is what I'm thinking of getting:

1xOscar
1xuaru
2xseverums
1xJD
2xcats (probably 4-line pictus)
1xbichir (probably senegal)
1xpinktail chalceus
1xpleco

Looking for dither suggestions (had GDanios and my O eats them) and was wondering whether a little group of clown loaches could work, or a black ghost. I might add another smaller cichlid like a FM, festivum, or jurupari. The convicts I have now are probably going in another tank though.

I like the idea of medium size less aggressive species like festivum and geo's, but the Dempsey might not allow it.

As for dithers i would suggest silver dollars, i personally think its cool how they all school together. Black ghost may work as long as nobody picks on it. If you do go with clown loaches make sure they arent small enough to get eaten by your O's. I say this becuz mine got eaten by my pike once the pike outgrew them:irked: But i think everything on that list would work out.

Yeah I'm a bit worried about somebody picking at the ghost.

My O and uaru are already grown (O is about a foot, uaru is pushing 10"). Yeah the one I was most worried about is the Jack, if the JD is in probably the medium cichlid idea is out...tough call. Of couse I still have the 55 which would be OK for a single JD for life, if it comes to that.

Oh tank is 6'x18"x30". I wish it was 2' deep but used tanks aren't easy to come by down here. Those dimensions are probably closer to 165-170 gallons but the acrylic is 1" so I'm figuring ~150G.

if you were to remove the Dempsey, things would be easier for adding the ghost. Why not just move it and then you can also add the jurupari or whatever

I didn't get the fish yet, the only ones I have already are the O & uaru (and some cons that won't be in that tank). Maybe no JD and add the smaller cichlid(s) and ghost?

Well if your O and ur uaru are that big i wouldnt add a ghost unless you can find a big one. On the JD, I would also suggest not adding one and just get something alittle more passive.

You shouldn't be keeping an Uaru by itself, get another 2 instead of something else in there so they really shine.

If I can find another I'd like to, it's a great fish, but they're hard to come by around here. I might order one. Mine was in the lfs getting beat to hell by a GT and a blood parrot so I took pity on him/her and bought it. Do they do much better in groups? Should I worry about having too many males, since I can't tell for sure what sex mine is?
