Hi,

I was decided to set up another tank but I have only one spot available in my living room (after some feasible redecorating): a "corner with 3 walls" (you´ll see what I mean after posting some pics later on) measuring 76 x 22".

The initial idea was to use the lentht but to be much wider (3´). However, I live in a 2nd floor of a 65 y.o.building and after speaking with a friend (civil engineer) he told me "NO WAY!": The floor would never support that tank - leasson learned: never speak with a civil engineer before setting up a tank...

It had to be much lighter; shouldn´t exceed the 300 kgs by m2 (sorry for not converting...)

Anyway, while struggling with the idea of testing the physics... I came across a sale of a 2yo (former SW) tank measuring 72x20x24"h with inox stand, lights (2 x 80w t5) and a 40g sump at a very reasonable price.

It has 1/2 the gallonage I wanted by fits perfectly the area I had and doesn´t create a problem with the floor so.. so I bought it.

This weekend, I proved that I am not so old as my kids usually say and carried it to its final place. The all 2 floors... (of course it didn´t fit the elevator) with only the help of another guy.

Well, that´s the story; let´s get into the set-up.

First of all, this is the tank (pic from the seller) - this pic is good to compare with the final result. I bet you´ll only recognize the glass...

and this is my idea for the filtration

I cleaned and tested for leaks and both tank and sump seem to be fine.

This evening I´ll be putting the eheim substract pro in another tank (to "colonize" the media) and start working on the sump.

I´ll be updating this thread as work progresses.

Your comments/ideas/ suggestions are welcome.

It isn´t obvious in the sump diagram, so I´ll clarify: the water comes from the tank and enters the sump through a 200 micra filter socket.

Man your landlord must be nice. I have it in my tenants lease that there cannot be any aquariums, or waterbeds.

That is over 1500lbs on the second floor. Better put it near the main supporting structure and good luck.

good luck!

Thanks guys for the luck wishes.
I am actually not worried; I used to keep a 210g reef +75g sump in this house. It´s strong

I don´t have a landlord, so no worries on that department
