Hello to anyone who can help and let's just say im not really handy
i lack quite a bit of knowledge in this new hobby
I bought a 150g for 50$ (5x2x2)
-i have no idea how old it is. but it seems pretty old and for 50$ Its worth a shot to fix.
-there is a crack and hole where a drain was/is in the bottom glass, its hard to see what is there since it has been white siliconed(i think its caulk cause its hard or maybe the silicone has just hardened up a bit more) and how do you get that off.
- if the crack is not a crack and actually completely broken and held only together by this silicone, what solutions are there
would it need to be taken apart completely resealed?
how would one know if it needs to be just resealed or taken apart to structure seal again?
how much flex is there in a big tank it didnt seem solid to me?
is it best to
a) fill with water and see what happens first
b) just reseal and see what happens when filled
c) after removing that silicone/drain/pipe, patch the hole up with a piece of glass(if so how hick does the glass have to be)
d) buy a new glass bottom and re do the whole aquarium?
e) take apart the whole aquarium and seal it(is the silicone for sealing the same ans the structural silicone)?
i have ge silicone I clear is that strong enough
also someone mentioned some kind of epoxy, i assume its that stuff for windshields, which is more cosmetic and for a small crack
sorry for all the questions, sorry if there's a thread for this somewhere (i just havent found it yet)
im not exactly picky on it being perfect aesthetically since it will be covered up by the substrate and i am going for cheap.
