Filtration: 2 x XP3 + AC110 | 1-2 Powerheads
Substrate: Black Moon Sand
Decoration: Driftwood + River Rock

Centerpiece Fish:
Male GT
Bottom fish: Clown Loach*
Top Fish: Boesemani Rainbow*
Other Fish: Geo, Severum**

* - How many of these should I be getting?
** - I don't know if either of these (or both) would work and how many

I will be getting a few GTs, growing them out and then taking the best looking male. I figure with the black sand that it will really make the colors of these fish pop and will turn out to be a rather attractive aquarium.

Looking good. I don't know about geos they may get beat up by the gt however it really would depend on the aggressivness of the gt. In my experience severums are pretty Hardy. Mine are pretty aggressive twords each other. I would put them with anything as long as their not with anything too aggressive such as dovii or red devils.

It really depends on the fish. My GT beat up on a Severum before I traded him in, but she'll tolerate the pike in the tank. No fighting just some chasing here in and there. I have 4 YoYo loaches that are just over 2" and they are completely ignored. As far as rainbows, Ive found out that they arent the best schoolers in the world but look amazing. You should have more than 6+ and you should be able to mix the different types of rainbows as well. Id get a small school of loaches and about 8-12 rainbows.

Not yet, didn't get enough sand the first go around so adding some more tonight.

just some free advice if you didnt already know....

Wash the hell out of the black sand in a 5 gallon bucket until the water in the bucket is clear. Not doing so could clog up the impeller faster with the mini particles and will make for an awfully cloudy tank for some time.

Yup, long time user of sand here, but thanks for the heads up. Have only had 55s in the past, so way undercut what I'd need for the 150g.

i had my old green terror in a 125, he ran the tank, and when my cousin went off to college he gave me his 7inch green severum to take care of, i put it in the green terrors 125 and it was bullied for a little but in the end they worked out fine.. i am not sure about the geo though, never kept any, but i hear they are not aggressive

Good Deal. I did the same with my 265. I think I ended up using 4 bags of black and 5 bags of pool filter to get a good 3-4 inches.

I plan to get all these as juvies and grow them up together.

Thinking of getting all the other fish and the GTs last (meaning GTs being the last to be put in the tank) - I just don't know how many of the rainbows/loaches to get and if/how many of the Sevs/Geo's I should be getting.

In retrospect maybe asking how many clown loaches I should get would have probably been best posted in the loach section, oh well. :D
