I’m sure it’s been asked a 100 times so I’ll put this in a poem so you don’t get bored

Ah hem.
My tank is empty
It needs inspiration
It’s 150 gallons of sadness.
I’m looking for information (education)
On my current tank situation.
I need something different
Something unique
Something that my interest will pique.
So throw out your best oddball unique suggestions
And thank you for your time reading my question.

This is a back burner, if anything should happen to current stock, what I would go with one of these days. Starynight cichlids, Congo tetras, and Syno cats.

Wow! I have never heard of starry night cichlids and just looked them up. I am in love! They’re gorgeous and also starry night happens to be my favorite painting by Van Gogh so win win

Right! Not one of the more common kept cichlids. Not sure if the Congo tetras will work, the starry look like they get big mouths.

May I ask what the footprint of the tank is? Help give me a better idea of what I'd put in it.
I live in Australia so not too sure what the "standard" measurements are for them - if there are any. :D

In one of my 125s I have a centerpiece cichlid with a support group of other fish. Growing them all out together, so far so good. This way the main fish is always in perfect condition due to not fighting with another cichlid.

I have a H. Carpintis as my main cichlid. His tankmates are a Lima Shovelnose, and Four line pim catfish. Also a Flagtail Prochilodis, and a Pink tailed Chalceus. So I get to watch six different fish do thier thing.

150s are just taller 6ft 125s if I am not mistakened. So 6ftLx18inWx24inH or there abouts on the height.

I have a texas chiclid hybred in a 125 with a school of 12 tiger barbs, 8 swordtails and 6 panda corys. I figured she'd eat the smaller fish but she doesn't bother them at all. None have come up missing anyway lol. Its become my husband's favorite tank to watch because there's alot of movement and difference in color.
The texas is white with blue and black speckeling, TBs tan black and red, and blood red swords on green plants makes for a pretty sceen.

This particular chiclid gets on well in this tank but I can't say another would be so peaceful.
