Hi all, setting up a 150g 72x18x27 with a synspilum pair being the main focus, I'd like to add at least 1 more big fish and maybe a group of BA tetras, maybe an Oscar, chocolate or uaru?,what do you guys think?

When the synspilum breed other cichlids will be seen as a threat I've even had Lone male 13inch synspilum that have killed buttikoferi and jaguar cichlids of similar size, if you are interested in breeding them keep them alone they will raise the young more successful, dither fish like big tetras will work as they are fast but are fast enough to pick off the newborn babies if that doesn't bother you some large, fast tetras include
Red eye tetras
African red eye tetras
Silver dollars (redhook,striped,spotted,normal)
Buenos Aries tetras
Colombian blue tetras
Congo tetras
Salmon Discus tetras

Thanks for reply.a large group of BA tetras would look nice.

I've kept breeding pairs of veija with groups of thorichthys.
In a well decorated scape with lots of caves and hiding places,if kept in numbers they do ok.
I would not add any larger solo cichlids as they will be the only threat to the veija and won't be able to hide from guarding pairs.

Thanks bud.good advice.
Thanks.
I do agree with Rd though.
That stock, if your buying the fish from juveniles, would be good for around 1 year.
After this time you may find things will get a little cramped for your veija.
Just something to think about. Long term something like a 220 would be more suitable.
