I have a 150G tank (60x24x25) and I was wanting to either stock with 5-6 Satanoperca daemon or red tapjaos a pair of apistos and tetras.

Would the Satanoperca daemon or red tapjaos work?

Either Geophagine would work, but S. daemon reaches about a ft long, so the Tapajós (smaller) might be better.
S daemon are also more finicky about water parameters, preferring pH 4-6, and no hardness, so if your tap water is even remotely hard, and higher pH, the Tapajós would be better in that respect too.
The daemon are very prone to bloat and hole in the head when put in mineral rich water.
Of course if your water is soft and mineral free, there is no concern.

While I think you can make both work, I like the tapajos better. The daemons never seem as good to me as people make them out to be. You see a few amazing pics online, but I never see the fish quite that nice. The tapajos look every bit as nice as what you see online. Plus being smaller gives you more flexibility on the fish. What tetras are you considering? I love a big school of emperors, but you have lots of options.

Thanks for the feedback F FLA and duanes duanes after doing some research I do think the daemons would be rather hard to keep as they basically seem to need RO water and im not going to set up a system. As for the other inhabitants I was thinking about a big school of rummynose tetras and green neons, but I feel that the green neons may be too small. I also want to add black venezuelan corys.

Green neons might be a little small. In my experience they come in extremely small. It is funny when you mentioned the tank, I thought it was a shame you didn't want corys. This is going to be a very nice tank. I look forward to hearing how it comes out.
