So I figured it was bound to happen, as I took too long to get a tarp/umbrella to provide some shade from the sun. I am using 4 homemade sponge filters whilst I get next week's paycheck to order a better filter made for ponds (if you've followed my posts, we got an outlet that works outside now, so I don't have to go the solar route). As far as I can figure from searching the subject on here I need to do these things once I get off work at the start of the week:

1. WCs of at least 50% over the next week a couple times.
2. A UV sterilizer, but only once I am sure the tank is cycled (I was using sponge squeezings from two established tanks as well as Seachem Stability), right? (I only got test last Monday, and only had some ammonia but nothign else; BTW this was also 1-2 days before the sudden algae bloom).
3. Setup a tarp so that pond gets no direct sun.

I do want to order some live plants for my pond, but I need to find out some that live well on indirect sunlight, as per tarp idea above. Any other suggestions for how to clear out algae as well as keep it away?

Leave away the tarp and put in LOTS of floating plants like water hyacinths; they will outcompete algae very quickly ;)

Literal pond snails, or is there a better species? Looking to order some hyacinth now... But mostly I've ordered some floating stuff, simple cheap duckweed. I hope it'll at least be a good start. Anyone have any good pond plant sellers to recommend online?
