Since they both have the same footprint and the only difference is the height is it a good idea to just get a 150gal instead of 180? I came from a Discus background so changing water is not an issue. I used to do it everyday.

As far as floor support maybe a 200Gal (96x24x20) is even better since the weight of the tank is spread 8' long?

I would always say the bigger tank you can you do, the better.

Are you sure about the dimensions on the 150 and 180. 150s are usually 18" wide, where 180s are usually 24" wide. If that's the case I would say go with the 180.

150 72 x 24 x 20 <---Bare Minimum???

180 72 x 24 x 24 <---Ideal size

200 96 x 24 x 20 <---More swimming space.

I cant decide what size to get. My concerns are my floors and the weight of the tank.

Hmmm...I like the dimensions of that 150 better than mine.

I definitely agree with your priority list...the 180 would be great for a while, but the Jar will even out grow that eventually. Take a look at some of Rallysman's pics of his Jar...it's in a 300 and he even makes that thing look small. :nilly:

Whats your floor plan like? How old is the building?

Ive got a 240 on my second floor at the moment.:)

Best would be to get something that has a width of 30". With Jardini growing to 30" or more in length, I just can't see keeping a 30" fish in a narrow 24" TANK.
