Hey, I'm moving my 4 RBP's from a 20g to a 75g(they grew fast just like I hoped) But the problem is I dont have an extra heater for the 75g. I was wondering if I put warm water in the tank and then put the heater from the 20g into the 75 will the temperature stay warm? Is 150w enough? My tank is in my school so I cant keep checking up on the water so I dont know if I can trust it.Any suggestions would be great. Also would putting the 20g's tank water and decorations along with its filter (ac70) be enough to avoid a whole new cycle? Thanks for the help
You may make it depending on how warm your house is. Put the heater in the middle of the tank then try to pick up another 100 or 150 and you should be fine.
all depends on how warm the school is and how warm you are trying to keep the tank... if the school is at a constant 50 degrees.. no it wont work... if the school is kept closer to 75 then you should be set...
in the summer time i could heat my 75 with a 50w.. in the winter i need to run a 300w because i keep the house cold... or well i did untill they doubled my electric rate now i just run the gas heat because its much cheaper however i hate the house being so warm
since you are not increasing the bioload (well you are since they are growing but you are not suddenly increasing it) you should be fine if you move the filters as well as the decorations/substrate since they also have BB living on them.. just be sure to add some more filtration.. if you dont want to keep the substrate in the new tank you can just put it in a mesh bag or something till the new filters get established
