Hi all,

Just picked up a 155 bowfront tank with dual overflows and would like to hear some opinions on best way to filter. I am shooting for roughly 12 discus plus maybe a group of sterbais and tetras.

I am thinking of picking up an fx6/fx5 and plumbing through one of the overflows while plumbing a flu all 404 through the other.

Other option is to filter with a 75 gallon sump.

What would you do and why? Thx.

Sump would probably be better than a couple canisters since its already drilled and will give you more flexibility. Also not sure what you mean by hooking canisters up to overflows but it doesn't work like that. If you want to use the holes in the overflow for a canister id recommend removing the overflow boxes

I also prefer a sump, filter socks can be employed to polish the water and are much easier, and more likely to be cleaned than a canister. The sump can be filled partially or completely with bio media, or planted.
And since the tank is already drilled, you are half way there.

Do a sump. I made a decent one out of a 55g tank and 2 Rubbermaid containers. It will be more efficient and it will save you a few bucks if you make one rather then buy a couple canisters. I have an fx5 and I don't care for it. It doesn't compare to my sump set up
