Just got a 155g (48"x24"x31") and I'm trying to finalize what I want to put in it, and I could really use some input. FYI I will be using a 20g sump to filter it, with bio balls and other media. I'm still not sure on all that, I need to do more research because I've never used a sump as a filter, but I think the pump probably turns over a good 1000g an hour.

Stock I am set on:

7-8 Peter's Elephantnose fish
Pair(??) Geophagus altifrons (Heard mixed things on how many of these you should keep, any suggestions?)
1 eel, hopefully Mastacembelus Favus which stays a bit smaller, but maybe a fire eel? I'd like a smaller Mastacembelus eel, not a Macroganathus eel.

Other fish I am more unsure about, but would like:

Group of Festivum? How would they do in here?
2-3 Ropefish
A silver AKA four stripe Datnoid? These are the ones that max out at 12", most the time less I believe. Would one work well?

I would also like a suggestion regarding a group of dither fish, too big to get eaten, but least likely to steal food from the slower feeding EN fish and eel.
I'm considering:

Shoal (6-8) of Pearl Gouramis? Unusual I know for a big tank, but I like that they would stay at the surface mostly, and they are beautiful. They would be too big to be eaten right?

Denison's Barbs
OR
Filament barbs
OR
Aurilius barbs
OR
Congo tetras
OR
some cheaper-ish Rainbowfish species, like Australians

Which of these dithers are least likely to get eaten, and least likely to go steal food from the bottom of the tank?

Any other compatibility issues, namely fish who would get munched by other fish on the list?

Thanks for your help! I am quite experienced with fish in general, and keep a lot of loaches, catfish, etc., but I'm new to bigger tanks over 55g.

Anyone? I'd also love input on the best algae eaters for this setup. Are there any bigger, but not huge, plecos that are cool but not super expensive? Would clown of BN plecos be ok, or get eaten? Also considering a true SAE.
