15G nano 2 weeks in.

New 15G nano. Just a smallish HOB and some air to it now, need some circulation and a HOB style skimmer (next DIY project!)

super slow build - in no hurry to screw things up!

New to full salt, have Brackish set up for 1year and several small and large fresh setups.


Recomendations on stocking? What should my first critter be? crab/shimp/mushroom/fish

Just about 5 weeks in. I have a few hardy inverts and a Damsel. So far GREAT!

The last zoom in was a 'blue leg' crab ... basicly a salt water bug. lol... but the white cluster I got on some live rock...looks like it will grow into something... close pic below.

Update: Same Damsel still ruling the roost. and I have about 10 more lbs of rock in there, although it still looks bare.

I have seen several 'pests', but they came with the live rock, so no biggie- They are my clean up crew. I have a shrimp (forgot the name) that also appears whenever I drop a little food for them.

Lighting is a custom HID H4 headlight bulb in a lamp 'cup' running aff a computer power supply. I have burnt out one bulb (added heat sink to help now) and one ballast (attached to metal toolbox to dissipate heat), but all in all I am happy with the output vs LED's.

Filter started as a 40G rated Tetra filter, now is a custom filled AC110 with trimmed impellers to lower flow. I put a filter on the intake to keep critters out too. I also added the smallest circ pump I could find for flow.

I still hav more rock on the list of stuff I want. also thinking of getting a different bulb in the 10K-12K range to start getting a coral or 2 going.
