Some new fish and an update on my Monster oddball tank. 18" P. teugelsi, 13" Polypterus sp. "hybrid" (Lap), and a 7" P. palmus buett from Toyin. Sorry for the crappy pics, too lazy to take good ones...

i don't think C00K meant it as "hybrid lap". it was listed as "hybrid", but the seller did make it clear that he's not saying they're hybrids for sure, just that the patterns look somewhat endli-like for an overall lapradei-looking fish. Anyway, my view on this fish is same as my view on "sp. Koliba", that is it's either a new locale variant of the Guinea lap, or a new P. bichir subspecies, but not hybrid.

Anyway thats my view. sorry for derailing C00K.

Not derailing at all, bro. Totally agree...not an actual hybrid, but a "new" variant of Guinea Lap. Saw pics of similar fish before I ordered (the pics are around here, just search). Definitely a Lap, (look at the pattern on the fins), didn't really want to post pics until it colored up and the pattern came back, but want to show a little since I am sure some of the polypterus addicts here are as interested in this "new" variant as I am.

channarox: No problems with keeping H. Malabaricus with polypterus, even small ones that look like they could be a wolf snack :). There are 3 wolves in there now 1xPeru, 1x Venezuela, 1x Prognatus, all about 11-12". The worst thing to happen is the polypterus (Laps in my case) getting nipped in the face by accident, as the wolves are voracious eaters (the prognatus often jumps out of the water to grab food/fingers). I have also kept gold wolf and rainbow wolf with my polypterus with no real issues.

Thanks for the comments guys, I am adding some new fish in soon (now crammed into my other tanks) and changing up some decor.
