Ok so I NEED a bigger tank fast. I fully knew this when I got my 2 rays and silver aero. They are happy in a 55 right now but they are all small. They deserve and need a bigger tank as soon as I can. I am looking for a 180 or 200 in April. ( anyone in Ohio area have one?)

Well here is my plan tell me what you think.

I am going to build a stand for it so I can do it my way. So I will build it to accommodate what I need. I would love a pair of FX5’s but $$$$$ wont be there after the tank and stand. So I want to turn my 37gallon tall into a sump for it? I will also be running a Fluvol 305 and 2 Marineland bio-wheel HOB’s rated for 350 GPA (70 Gallon tanks).

Does this sound like a good plan or am I wasting my time with the sump?

MY other question is how hard is it to convert a FW sump to a SW sump?

I ask because my plan is to switch to a pair of FX5’s when I have the money and space for both the big tank and my 55 again and make the 55 a reef tank so I would use the sump on it?

Sumps are great. go with a sump and forget the FX5s.

Shouldn't be an issue to use a S/W sump as a F/W.

I'd use your 55 as a sump and get a tank with a bare minimum of 30" width. A 180 or 200 probably only has a 24" width which is too small for aros and rays.

You put two rays and a silver aro in a 55 gallon?!?! whoa...puff puff pass!

First thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thumbs up!!!1

Next the 55 is a corner so it would be hard to use as a sump.

I am looking for a ?X4X4 tank.

thats a bit larger than you need, especially the height. If you can afford it though, go for it.

I own it thats why i was wondering if i could use it and not spend money on another tank.
