in the now!!
ok so my brother and i are eating lunch at a sandwitch shop in temecula .After eating i cruze over to aLFS two doors down.Anyway there is a180 sitting on the floor Iask whats up with that tank. the guy says that its going to be busted up because when unloading they bumped it . there is a small crack that you cannot even feel with your finger nail two inches from the top behind the over flow.at the water line.my question is can I fix it by drilling the crack to prevent further craking and put a piece of half inch glass in the over flow box. or am i just wasting my time. tank is all half inch 4inch by half braces on both sides 18 by half brace in the center bottom has 2 half inch slabs! :naughty:input please! 6*2*2

if its only 2 inches from the top, you can always just keep your water level a few inches low, or a better option, make a gigantic vivarium/paludarium

I wouldn't risk it. My brother in law gave me a cracked 100 gallon that was chipped on the top. To make a long story short I fixed it filled with water had some help to set it in place set it up added fish. The next day I come home from work and almost 100 gallon on the floor. Look around you can find used tanks witghout cracks that are kinda cheap these days. GOOD LUCK!

its glass and also behind the over flo and ibelieve tempered its an old tank but nic ialready took it.

you dont think i could repair it i was thinking i could drill were its cracked than put another half in. piece and bond it because the over flow is glass also. if i drill it that would stop any more cracking right? if it doesnt work that is a good idea. all of the pressure is absorded by by the over flow or am i wrong ?

if it is behind an overflow, just don't use the overflows, just suction from the main part of the tank, simple fix :) as long as the overflow seal is good and the crack doesn't propagate past the overflow, if you are worried about the integrity of the panel just put a patch over it.
