Hey everyone,
I might be getting a 180 gal from my dad's friend:headbang2 If I do I plan to use a 55 gal to build a wet/dry sump for it, and then thinking about running a canister or emperor400 or something along with it. I was wondering what type of filtration is use with who ever has a 180 gal and any reccomendations!

thanks!:D

I run a W/D along with an FX5 on my 180...can't beat this combination for a 180...my 2 cents

The tank also has a Fluval 4 with a UV filter in the sump..

I use 40g breeder tank for W/D, 2 xp3, and 2 AC110.

I've got a 50g sump and an Emperor 400. I've also got 2 Penguin 1140 powerheads and a Magnum H.O.T. 250gph running a 36 watt UV Sterilizer. This is all for a 190g.

An HOB and a can would be good. You can put filter floss or other fine media int he HOB since it is really easy to access when it clogs, and then put biomedia or sponges in the canister.

Water movement is important wihin reason, no fish like to live in a whirlpool but it really depends on your bioload as to how much filtration you need. Your only going to generate as much beneficial bacteria as you have ammonia to convert, so getting multiple filters or designing some insane over-the-top system would be overkill if your only going to keep one guppy, if you know what I mean. Figure out how much you want to stock your tank and work from there.
