Been lurking in the background for awhile but first actual post. Was able to get a 180 gallon tank (8 feet) for really cheap on Craig's List. The actual dimensions of the tank are 96 x 18 x 24. Going to run a few canister's for flitration since the wife hates any type of noise from it. PFS as substrate with some drift wood and plants. Thinking of doing a CA/SA mix, the two I know I want are a Green Terror and White Cichlid (Vieja Argentea). Maybe add a pair of convicts for fry and easy feeder fish as they grow. Any other possibilities that can be added?

Why do you want a pair of convicts? I would just do something like the gt, vieja, then instead of the pair do a con and a salvini or firemouth. You could probably add another mid-sized cichlid, but don't be surprised if a fish or 2 have to be removed when they reach adulthood.

Green Terror, Vieja, and 2 or three male cons.

Was looking at the convicts just for more or less free food for everyone else in the tank.
