  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow! Beautiful! You should enter the tank of the month with that! The plants are awesome, and so are the rocks! What type of Spiny Eels in there? How many?

There are

Black spotted eel about 15 inches
Orange spotted who is about 10ish
Borne python eel who is about 13 or 14
Leopard eel who is about 12ish
And a half banded eel who is about 8

There's also a common pleco in there somewhere. Hes large but quite shy. He tends to stay hidden inside the black pvc caves i have hidden under the plants

I wish I had a tank as pretty as that! How long has the plants been growing, and do you plan to put anything else in there?

The plants have been in for awhile but the floating plants only for about 4 or 5 months.

I'm not the biggest fan of guppy grass but the larger spiny eels tend to snap other plants in half because of how they like to stay near or inside plants. Or how they uproot most stem plants from burrowing. I couldn't think of much else that would survive their shenanigans

I've got a fire eel I received a few years ago by mistake who will be going to the 180 when he's big enough. Was supposed to be a different spiny eel. It was so small that it was hard to tell exactly what it was but now that its about 8 or 9 inches its obviously a fire eel. Its growing out in my 55 gallon for now.

I would like to add a tire track eel. I would also love to get one or two african clawed frogs but haven't seen them for sale for awhile.

Mhm. Yeah. I, personally, love the look of guppy grass. I like it how the eels sit in the grass. An African Clawed Frog would be a great addition to that tank, just make sure it is big enough! A Fire Eel would look a little out of place, but it’s still an eel!

I love how guppy grass looks but I hate how easily it breaks apart or fragments lol. You're right though, the eels absolutely love the stuff.

Did you get to watch the video? At about 4-5 minutes in there's a few clips of the eels handfeeding. A few of the eels enjoy being pet and picked up strangely enough.

This feeding vid is cool! I love watching fish get fed ;). Night crawlers, ehhh? Yummm ?. I love the Orange spotted, he is so cute! The Leopard eel bit u lol ?. What do u feed them on a normal basis?

I didn’t get to watch the vid, but I will go to 4 minutes and watch the feeding. Why do your eels like to be picked up??

Seems to be a common trait with spiny eels once you get them used to you. When they realize that you = food they will practically swim into your hands lol.

I've come across some spiny eels who seem content with spending their entire days burrowed though so they're all different. But most of the time, if they're kept in a ideal tank they will become very personable and seek their owners attention 24/7 in hopes of getting fed

I even caught the black spotted on film yawning lol. Its at 1:10
