I'm getting my 180 gallon long this week and putting in a red fin pickerel in there. What would be some good tank mates for him. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

You could put in Large Sculpins (Banded,Mottled, Prickly), Large Madtoms (Checkered, stonecats, Slender and Margined madtoms), Large Shiners and Chubs, (Golden Shiner, Striped Shiner, Blue head chub, Redtail Chub, Lake Chubs) in schools, or you could put in a couple of Yellow Bullhead and Yellow Perch with your Redfin Pickeral......but Pickeral love plants and Driftwood to hide In with whatever tankmates you choose.
