Hey guys,

I posted pics of my aquarium in a previous post but wanted to get your opinons on the weight of the tank VS my floor lol.

My house was built in 1965. It is a raised foundation. I have my tank sitting across two of the floor joists and for added support used two 12 ton bottle jacks and added a 4x4 beams to support each joist. Pic below

The support beams are every 52 inches and are 4x4 into concrete pillars. Oddly enough the joists are like 3 feet apart from each other.

The guy at my LFS saw these pics and said I had nothing to worry about. He said older houses are generally built more sturdy than new ones, but that being said I'm a network engineer and not very bright when it comes to structres or woodworking. The tank is against an exterior wall as well.

Should I be worried about the weight of my 180?

I don't have a lot of knowledge in this are but i have read that hydraulic jacks can bleed off over time, where screw jacks won't. I can't say I've ever seen floor joists so far apart either, that is odd.

Bro I had a 125 running parallel with 1 floor joist for years with zero problems...youre way safe with that setup trust me...there's threads on here of people running huge tanks in crazy spots with zero problems
