Hey everyone, I'm guessing the floor under this tank is uneven as I've had to put shims in between the tank and stand on one side...now I noticed the 2 center legs of the stand are bowing outward...should I get a tiedown for towing or something and tighten it until it looks normal just as a safety precaution?
Kinda random I know lol, but I def. want to address this before it has potential to turn into a BIG problem!
Thanks everyone.
John

if it were me id be draining that thing and getting a new stand, but im incredibly paranoid. hope somebody has some more practical advice, good luck

Personally I would do the same only because if the stand is bowing I would be afraid that regardless of any custom attempts to curtail the issue it would eventually give way. Maybe someone here with more experience in hardware/building/etc can shed more light on possible options but I would have to replace the stand to be able to sleep at night.

I agree either take it down and get a new stand or take it down reinforce the old one and make sure that thing is shimmed and level before setting back up.

I'de replace it hands down.. either build my own, or shell out the cash for something better. sounds liek it's a metal stand?.. I really don't trust those stands over the 75 gallon range.. I know some people have 125 and larger double stands... but depending on the manufacturer I've heard horror stories of welds breaking.

Have you checked the floor to see if the tank is screwing with the joists, and in turn causing the problem with the stand? If this is the case your problem needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.....dont want the tank going through the floor!!

Take it DOWN...build your own with 4x4 and metal brackets, thats what i did with my 300gal and now in the process of a new build for my 180

thanks guys, I was dreading this to be the answer lol but I figured it would be the right choice, and it looks like that's the move I'm going to have to make...thanks everyone for the responses!
freshwater tim...thankfully its in the basement on a cement floor :)
south15, do you have any pictures...since this happened, I'm planning on making a 12ft long stand out of wood, to accommodate four 180 gallon tanks-2 on top, and 2 on the bottom...I'm going to make a post about this in the dyi stand forum, and would love everyones engineering perspective on how I should go about building this massive creature!
thanks all!
