Hey all,

I have been trying to set up a 180 gallon tank and I am running into two problems.:nilly:

First. I noticed that the floor is uneven and that the left side of my tanks water table is 1/2" lower then that of the right side. the floor is a slightly slanted downward toward the left. What can I use to even it out and how?

Second I am using a mag18 on a Eshopps wetdry and overflow box rated for a 300 gallon system. My vendor told me the mag18 and overflow box that came with it are matched for each other. I am using 1 inch pvc that splits into two 3/4 inch return tubes. When I primed my overflow box I turned on the pump and was using the python to prime the overflow while I sucked out the air. Once the overflow started going I put on the pump and accidently left the python flowing, continuing to fill the tank. Needless to say, my tank overflowed and I was not sure if it was because the pump is too strong or if it was because of my stupidity in allowing the python to continue.

The only thing I can think of at this point is to put a valve at the return tubing to control the flow.

I have emptied the tank since and could really use some help on figuring this thing out. I am getting very discouraged and have even considered selling the tank which i rather not do. Anyone have any personal experience with the equipment I mentioned

Thanks for advice
Larry

I have no experince on leveling tanks.

mag18 from what i can tell is rated fo 1200 gph at 5' of head and i believe a 1" pipe is only going to flow about 600gph due to gravity. SO from this it seams the over flow can't keep up... Wait i just read return lines... What size is the over flow drain line?

Rather then restrict the pump a better way to go is put a T in the return line and have the side go back into the tank with a ball valve. As the valve closes it will send more water up top to the tank alowing you to tune it just right.

However restricting half the flow doesn't sound like a good plan, might was well use that power and up your overflow capacity

To level my stand I put some styrofoam under the lower side and it evened it out. Maybe somebody will tell you a better way, but that is what I have done.

I have yet to level the tank but as for the overflow problem I think it will be best to just drill the tank so I am trying to get some one to come to my house and do that
