Hi guys. I'm looking to stock this tank (6'x2'x2', 3 times bigger than anything else I've owned!:naughty:) with some big colorful CA/SA cichlids but am unsure if they can co-exist. Ideally I would like to mix some Vieja species, Festae, Bocourti, etc. Do any of you have any experience, thoughts, suggestions, or comments on if this is possible?... Or if you think I may enjoy another species? Aditionally I'm in the Calgary, Alberta, Canada area... so if anyone has any ideas on where I could get any of these fish that would be wonderful too. Thanks MFK community!

Now I have never kept a Bocourti but they have a reputation as being less aggressive than the other species you had some interest in. I would say with a tank that size you could do something with some vieja or a festae though. Are you think of doing a pair or more of a community? I think a tank like this would work for a festae pair. But I'll let someone else chime in with experience with bocourti. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I'm open to a breeding pair, or a community tank. I just don't want some fish getting battered to death from severe incompatibility issues. That's why I'm asking you guys :)

No one has any input? I'm sure some of you out there have some similar setups or failed attempts at them!

Wow, I'm surprised you have not gotten any other feed back on this. Anybody else that can help him or give any experiences?

I think it may be possible if you start them as juvies, and avoid letting anything pair up. Bocourti grow pretty fast, somewhat like oscars, and seem to be able to hold their own. The only thing regarding the festae... if you try them, I'd try to just go with one, and a female at that. They can be pretty nasty, but I think your luck with a lone female may be better than with a lone male (or so, that's how it worked out for me, at any rate), and certainly better than trying to put a pair in there. Just my two cents. Good luck.
