My next purchase I have basically decided will be a 180 gallon tank. The standard 6x2 one.

I have always wanted a fire eel, but I have always (smartly) stayed away due to their size.

Is a 6x2 tank big enough? I don't see myself getting a bigger tank for a long long time (5+ years) so keep that in mind please.

Thanks for the replies in advance

Yes, that will be fine. I don't think you will need to upgrade, though you will have to make sure you don't have too many decorations in the way once it gets to around 30"+, but I think it takes them 3-5 years to reach that size, so you should be fine.

Ya I think a 180 would be fine, what else are you going to get?

No clue... be 3 months before I get it set up (im moving), then cycling, ect

I got awhile to figure it all out.

But I think I found my wow factor fish :D

I agree a 180 should be fine as long as you take into account the max size it'll get and "lightly stock" the rest of the tank w/ this in mind. But you may end up needing to upgrade to a 220 or something wider. really depends on how big and fast it grows. imo you'll be fine in that tank for at least 2yrs.. then you'll get an idea if you'll need to upgrade it's housing or not.
