Hey Everyone,

Im finally starting to have the opportunity to upgrade my tank as soon as I sell off a pool table...if anyone is interested its very nice and professional size have to get it out.

Back to fish,

I really want to get a 180 drilled already with overflows however for the right price I might be able to get one with stand and canopy for far less but not drillled...however I just want to make that I still can have really good over flows.

What size over flows do you recommend and how many?

Can I just get a way with one big overflow box?

What size sump would you say is best? I would like to keep a smaller tank down thier beside the sump if possible.

I have a medium sized overflow on my 180.It has just one drain and my wet/dry sump is about three feet long and twelve inches wide, not sure about any exact numbers you may need.

After doing some research Im thinking of using an eshopps overflow box as I have used one before.. and for the sump looking to use 40 gallon breeder. Will see if maybe a taller sump can fit as I would like to put a quarentine tank right next to the sump...

Sounds good.

What is your ideal stock list going to be like? Either way I think something in the range of an 1000-1200 gph overflow box would be ideal. Close to 10x turnover rate. Then you just need a pump to match the gph of the overflow box

just unsure what size overflow as well as what size pump

I run an eshopps 1800 with a q16000 which moves right around 1200 gph after head-loss. The box is a bit larger than I need and works just fine, but I've found that the larger the box in relation to the pump, the noisier the overflow is. The closer they are in rates, the quieter they are, but less room for error (floods).

Some folks complain about the eshopps or any u style box losing siphon at times, but I've yet to encounter that myself. We rarely lose power around here though.

The only negative to a 40 b on a 180 is you might find evaporation hard to kept up with in a smaller sump, but as long as you can "fit" everything you need in it, it will work just fine. I have a 45 gallon tote under my 210, but it's on a drip so evaporation is not an issue.
