I have my umbee in a 180 gallon with lots of other fish but is not growing as quickly as when he was in a 65 gallon on his own, my question is would i be better off putting him back in the 65 and get him to 10 inches or so before i get my 96 x 30 x 24 or leave him in the 180 for a while.

What are the tank mates in the 180g? Is the temp the same in both tanks? May just need more food as he is getting more exercise in the 180g.

1. 14 inch oscar ,2. blue acaras ,3 silver dollars, 1. festivum, 1. 8 inch red horseface, 1. 3 inch heckelii and he eats like a pig.

How does the festivum do with the tankmates?

Agressive takes the umbee out, the festivum is 5 inches and the umbee 4 and would be number 2 on the pecking order behind the oscar.

What's the point of waiting until he gets 10"? Get the 300 gallon now and put him in it. :headbang2

1.I need a bit of time to save the dough and was thinking by the time the umbee is 10 inches i should be ready to set-up the bigger tank.
2. I am hoping he is not stunted
3. I should know if its male/female by that size, i want a male.
4. If he is stunted or female i wont buy the 300 gallon (not unless i find more big fish i like)
