I have 11 xantic managuense that I am growing out. Soon I want to move the lot into my 180 (not a standard 180 - 8ft by 1 ft). What is the best way to setup this tank to grow these guys out. A lot of bulky drift wood and leave the top 1/3 water column open? not much drift wood but a lot of fake plants to create site barriers through the whole water column? Somewhere in between? What has worked for other people?
thanks

I would go with Your first option, will work wonders at minimising aggression, keeping on top of water conditions will be a pita though.

Wow, 8'x1' is a cool tank, have not seen one like that. With that much swimming space, I doubt you will have aggression problems until they are much larger. I would just do some driftwood and rocks in there. I find my tanks look the best when I randomly drop the stuff in and don't arrange it, I can never make it look natural if I place them on purpose

what's the average size of the jags?

I have five of them in a 125 from rapps probably ranging from 4 to 8 inches.
I also have 6 of them in a 120H from Raymond Chan ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 inches

Charney Charney how long do you expect until you have to start separating them?

8ftx1ft will be an issue later. But rocks in corners and large drift wood in center is best imo. When they get bigger it’s gonna feel bad when they have to go vertical to turn around.. From my own experience

Edit: lol just realized this post is like 6months old. Regardless. Still something someone with a jag needs to consider.
