I’m new to megaflows, so much info on which way to plumb... Durso , full siphon with open channel? Plug bulkheads and just run canisters lol. I plan on running a 55 for my sump, so should I run dual drains and return over backside, single drain return in overflow box? Thanks guys

If your overflow only has two holes, I would plumb both holes as drains. One at full syphon tuned down with a gate valve, and a durso setup as a open channel. For your return you can plumb over the top of the tank. Make sure the return is above the water level to prevent back syphon during power failure. Congrats on the new tank and welcome to the forums!

Depends on what yo mean by Mega flow.
The number of drains, and pipe diameter can depend on the size pump you use, and how much flow you want to achieve (which also depends on type of fish you keep)
I you keep oxbow species like angels, discus, or Bichers, you won't need strong current,.
If you keep Tiger fish, Dorado, or Tomocichla, you may need quite a bit
I like rheophillic species like Tomocichla, Chuco, and Rheoheros, and for them, I need heavy flow., enough to have plants constantly bend in the current.

For the tank above, I used two, 1.5" drains.
For the 180gal below, with simple riverine species, I still use, two drains.

I have never found canister filters to provide a strong enough flow for the current I needed.

If your 180 only has a single weir I would run two drains (I have durso) and your return lines over the top
I have two weir drains with 4 holes 2 in each overflow box. I’ll try to post pic on tank in garage with stand pipes tank came with when I bought it.

Sounds like my 450 and pretty typical setup. I did some strange things with mine over the years and really like the options two weirs provide
