Just picked up a 180 gal tank. Plan to set up with fresh water natives. I have been reading all the DIY's on wet drys, But I need to know what size pump should I use for the return. And what is a good brand. It will be about 5' of head. I like the submersible ones but are there any down sides to them. Also where can I get about 10 gal of bio balls cheap??

I'd do a Mag drive pump. How many over flows do you have and what are they rated for GPH??? Instead of bio balls, go with nylon pot scrubbers from your local dollar tree. Should be able to get them 6 for $1, and they have more surface area than bio-ball gallon for gallon.
