I m making my 180G tank from scratch.

The silicone is not really smooth but it is much stronger than others. if you are making a large fish tank.. for construction purpose, you really need this one.
3) Also, I use Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml for the top and other small joint.. this silicone is really easy to use and very smooth to work with

4) then i make the stand with 2x4.. and reinforce with 1/8" degree corner metal (from Home Depot) to make sure the tank is safe . The metal is drill into the stand first, then we put the bottom piece of glass in, then i glue all the glass together to have the tank made.
