You dont know
Hi everyone. Well today was a good day today. I wanted to build a pond, but my mom said she doesnt want a pond. Then I brought up the 180. She said, "As long as you keep your room clean and you pay for it get whatever size tank you want." So Im going to start building the stand hopefully within the next 3 days. Its going to be my second DIY stand.

The problem is filtration. The tank is going to hold a silver aro, and 2-4 baby marble motoro rays. I know they will outgrow the tank soon but its a temporary thing. I will have a DIY wet/dry on the 180. I will have the wet/dry and I thinking maybe a canister.

So for my w/d, how many gph should I be flowing? I was thinking around the 1200gph mark, but Id rather have an expert tell me.

Also

What cannister should I be looking at. I have an Eheim 2215 on my 75g and it works awesome. I hear some people say only Eheim they use, and others only use Rena. So what model and brand should I get? Thanks for the help guys.

You should keep it between 3 and 10 turnovers (tank volumes) per hour. Fish from lakes or slow moving bodies of water will appreciate little or no current.

Well the rays are coming from the Amazon, which is a slow river, at least the part where they come from. So maybe if I just did 600 gph
(1" pvc overflow) would give me a turn over of 3 and 1/3. So what pump should I get for that. Like something around 650 gph right?

Andr3w, you're not the Original MFKer.

Wurm your like CSI-MFK, always on top of the scene.

You guys gonna let the kid stay:thumbsup: New name, lessons learned?

arowanas and rays prefer a slow moving current. So I would probably do 2-3x turnover. so anything from a 360 - 540 would be good. Make sure you include aloooootttt of media in the sump though. A slow but heavily stocked wet/dry is the best imo.

Id also have a cannister too tho. What one would be the best for a tank like this?

Let Andr3w stay. We are really good friends out of this forum. Like he's always telling me how he misses MFK and how all the other forums suck compared to it. (I'm not just saying this) Let him stay, he won't do anything dumb again, and if he does, I'll egg his house.

:)

Yea thats a good idea. How about this. I AM going to behave, but If I dont, its Robbies reputation on the line. Right Robbie? :)
