So i found an ad on kijiji for a 180 "Hi I'm selling my 180 gallon fish tank. Its just TOO big for my new apartment. It has a stand that was home made with lumber and lag bolts. It has a light and ballast, and glass tops. The bottom was cracked before but has been professionally repaired by Zulianni glass. It was repaired with glass over the old crack. It does hold water just fine. If you are interested please email me back. Can show anytime. I just dont know how to put pictures on here. Im only looking to get $350 for it because i just want it out of my bedroom." this is a really good price in my area but i am not sure if in the future this will be a problem? what do you guys think? safe or not

You really think people can give you a valid opinion on this, with such a limited amount of info?

you have no way of knowing if it will last. none. likely a repair was made, but unless it comes with a warranty.... a 180 for 350 is honestly fair, cheap but fair for a older used tank. you're rolling the dice. up to u.

If it turns out to be a leaker and causes water damage in your house, it will cost a lot more hassle and money than $300.

I wouldn't buy it. That's 1,440 lbs of water.

In regards to my peace of mind, an aquarium with a crack on the bottom (honestly, a crack ANYWHERE) is a no go. Tiger is right: if this thing goes bad, it won't matter how good a deal you got, it's going to cost you a lot to fix the resulting problems.

Now if you were looking for a large lizard/reptile enclosure, I would jump on this. As an aquarium though, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing this thing was full of water.

Just my opinion, nothing more. Good luck whichever route you decide to take!

I have a 125g I repaired in a similar matter, not the bottom though. For me I'd take a look at the repair and decide whether or not it will hold base don how its done. But I wouldn't be looking at paying 350$ for a repaired tank. Imo the repair greatly diminisheds the value.
